Melisande is a 12th century Anglo-Norman lady who joined the SCA about 1983 and has been an active member ever since. She is apprenticed to Master Thaddeus the Brown and Mistress Siobhan O'Neill. Her love of Medieval and Arthurian Literature led to her interest in the SCA where she enjoys music, greyhounds, and spending time with her friends from all over the Middle Kingdom. She is skilled in embroidery, research, calligraphy, cooking, juggling and costuming, and interested in tablet weaving. She is a patroness of Arthurian literature and the new art of courtly love.

Melisande has been the local, regional, and Kingdom Minister of Arts and Sciences, regional Seneschal, and has been on Pennsic staff twice. She became a Mistress of Pelican Jan. 10, 1998 and her proteges are Master Hroar Stormengr, THL Bronwyn of Brighoaks, and THL Eoin O'Seaghda.

Mundane Info

Mundanely, Cathy is a writing instructor at the University of Michigan-Flint where she teaches freshman composition, technical writing, and business communication, among other things. Her most recent publication is "Fairy Princess or Tragic Heroine? The Metamorphosis of Arwen Undomiel in Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings Films." Cathy is married to Roger Jordan (THL Balian de Brionne) and they live in Davison with their cats. When she's not busy with work or the SCA, Cathy enjoys reading murder mysteries and visiting museums (especially any exhibits that relate to Ancient Egypt, the Middle Ages, or the Titanic).
